Shotgun Review Submission Form
DO NOT SUBMIT PRESS RELEASES USING THIS FORM.
Shotgun Reviews are an open forum where the international art community is invited to contribute timely, short-format responses (400 words max) to an exhibition or event on the West Coast for Art Practical. The West Coast Region includes: Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, California, Baja California, and Hawaii.
The next available publication dates are: January 15 and January 29.
We publish reviews up to one month past the exhibition's close date, depending on available publication dates.
This form will be updated as soon as possible to reflect available dates.
We ask that you submit your review no later than two weeks after the exhibition closes
. We also accept submissions of recent performances, happenings, film screenings, or other one-day or short-term events (less than one week in duration) to publish up to one month after the event occurred.
To submit a Shotgun review, please fill out all fields of the form below. Each selected review will go through an editorial process with an Art Practical editor. Due to the high number of submissions, only a select number of received submissions will be posted. If you have any problems with or questions about filling out the form, please email emily(at)artpractical.com with "Shotgun Review Form" in the subject line.
Our Conflict of Interest Policy:
We cannot consider contributions regarding: the artwork of someone with whom the writer has a personal relationship; the work of an artist, gallery, or institution with whom the writer has a current or previous financial relationship or internship; any gallery that represents his/her work; any gallery institutionally related to the organization employing the writer; a colleague in the institution employing the writer. We will not consider submissions that have been previously published in any form, including on personal blogs. We do not run reviews of MFA shows. Please note that our relationship with the California College of the Arts prevents us from publishing reviews of exhibitions at the Wattis Institute of Contemporary Arts.
