Shotgun Reviews are an open forum where the international art community is invited to contribute timely, short-format responses (400 words) to an exhibition or event. If you are interested in submitting a Shotgun Review, please fill out all fields of the form below. Each selected review will go through an editorial process with a Daily Serving editor. Due to the high number of submissions, only a select number of received submissions will be posted. If you have any problems with or questions about filling out the form, please email
with "Shotgun Review" in the subject line.
Please note that exhibitions need to be on view at the date of publication. Therefore, we ask that the close date for the exhibition be at least one week following the date you submit your review. However, we will accept submissions of recent performances, happenings, film screenings, or other one-day or short-term events (less than one week in duration) that have already occurred, provided that the next available publication date is approximately within two weeks of the event.
Our Conflict of Interest Policy:
We cannot consider contributions regarding: the artwork of someone with whom the writer has a personal relationship; the work of an artist, gallery, or institution with whom the writer has a current or previous financial relationship or internship; any gallery that represents his/her work; any gallery institutionally related to the organization employing the writer; a colleague in the institution employing the writer. We also will not consider submissions by a writer whom the gallery or artist has paid or commissioned to write the article in question, or a submission by a writer who collects the work of the artist in question. We will not consider submissions that have been previously published in any form, including on personal blogs. We do not run reviews of MFA shows. Please note that our relationship with the California College of the Arts prevents us from publishing reviews of exhibitions at the Wattis Institute.
